National Minimum Wage and Living Wages Rates for 2022

What is the National Minimum Wage and what are the rates?

The National Minimum Wage is the minimum hourly rate of pay almost all workers are entitled to and should receive.

The new rates from 1st April 2022 are:

	23 and over	21 to 22	18 to 20	Under 18	Apprentice
April 2021 (current rate)	£8.91	£8.36	£6.56	£4.62	£4.30
April 2022	£9.50	£9.18	£6.83	£4.81	£4.81

Who qualifies for the minimum wage?

Anyone classed as a worker and at or over the school leaving age can get the minimum wage.

School leaving age is anyone who has left school on the last Friday in June and will be 16 by the end of the school summer holidays in England.
